My dad used to work up at the airport for over 40 years, and he would rant and rave about this place, as he should. He’s since retired, and this is not the closest place to us so it’s been a while since he’s been, but we went yesterday and it’s still just as good as he remembers it. He used to go EVERY Friday for the lunch specials! We got the hot & sour soup, which he loved, and took the rest home, and googled the rest today. We both got our own plates of chilli chicken, however; one would probably suffice between two people (especially if you’re getting more dishes), the portions are GENEROUS!!! Of course, the flavour and taste was absolutely impeccable. Spice level was perfect!! The service as well was very pleasant and our waitress checked on us just enough to feel seen and remembered but not too much to feel watched, just the perfect amount! She even noticed me not eating the soup (personally just not for me, but my dad really does swear by it! Different strokes for different folks, really.) and offered to bring me something else I may enjoy- very thoughtful! China Garden, keep up the wonderful work!!!
Went there on a week day for dinner. Generous portion sizes and the food was delicious. Had nothing to find fault with. The Manchurian we ordered was spicy for the kids ( we had asked for no spice) , we sent it back and it was duly replaced with a no spice version. Will come back again.
UPDATE: SATURDAY APRIL 8TH, 2022 Wanted to give China Garden another chance as we had guest coming over. This time they truly didn't disappoint.... We ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Wanton Soup, General TSO, Chilli Beef, Veggie Hakka Noodles and the complimentary white rice and it was all fantastic... Something tells me the restaurant is being run by new owners but don't know.. UPDATE: DECEMBER 2022 IT'S COMPLETLEY OFFICIAL........ CHINA GARDEN IS BACK!!!!!! Their food is amazing, even their hot and sour soup!!! All I can say is that I ordered twice this month and both times food was amazing!!!! Love my China Garden!!!!!!! November 2023 Update:. I'm very sad to report that HYPER INFLATION has badly hit China Garden (Malton). The quality of the food is very good however, China Garden was hit by 2 major whammy's (1) continuous price increases AND (2) severe SHRINKFLATION. Therefore as a result we have HYPER INFLATION!! UPDATE: Feb 11, 2024 (Superbowl Sunday). Well China Garden.... you did it again. You were the star of my Superbowl party last night. The food was excellent!!! Our order consisted of General Tso Chicken, Chilly Beef, Hakka Special noodles, egg fried rice and plain steamed rice. We paid a pretty penny which I certainly didn't mind as long as the food was good. The best part was I received a confirmation call in the afternoon from the restaurant to reconfirm my order and I spoke to the employee to see if they can fine tune the chilly beef so that it's not too too spicey. And they listened!!!! It was a hit!!! Thank you once again China Garden!!!! Uodate: April 6, 2024 Had guest come over for 4 o'clock tea which lead to dinner. Of all the options we thought of to order diner at the last minute, good old faithful China Garden came thru again with out fail. The highlight of the night for me is their hot and sour soup with chicken... no other restaurant that I've gone to can make hot and sour soup like China garden. The rest of our order was fantastic: chili chicken, general tso, hakka special noodles with chicken and shrimp and chicken fried rice!!!!

If you were driving past you may not stop in... BUT please do! The food at China Garden is more than spectacular! Signature dishes such as chilli chicken, Manchurian chicken, chicken Hakka chow mein and hot n sour soup are stellar! Do not hesitate to dine here!!
Easy to order! One gravy dish will do for the rice and have the rest dry. Portion is generous and price is affordable.
Been coming here for years and it's consistently good. Hot and sour soup is the best I've ever tried and same with the corn soup. Usually order the veg chow mein, veg manchurian and mixed veg and they always taste great. They have crispy noodles and thick noodles too if you prefer. The service is always friendly and fast and it's been consistently good for so many years so can't go wrong here! They always package with extra hot sauce, green chillies and soya sauce which is a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend it
Came here for takeout. Order was ready on time. Service was quick, polite and it seems like the restaurant takes the safety precautions seriously (plexi glass barrier, masks worn). The food was delicious! We had the dry chilli chicken, which had a good amount of spice and flavour in it. Hakka noodles and manchurian fried rice were also well prepared, and really big quantities!! Spring rolls were crispy and properly cooked. They also gave us a large quantity of plum sauce, chilli sauce, and soy sauce (those small individual takeout packets), which is nice. Other restaurants may only give you a few with your order. Very satisfied with this place, will definitely return.
